I know, I know. Typically, I’ll say that a layover doesn’t count. But as long as you leave the airport, eat some food, and see— anything— we’ll count it. I also don’t have a huge desire to explore Ireland, so this was an easy way to knock it off the list.
I had a 12 hour layover which means not only did I get the entire day to explore the city, but since it’s a layover, I didn’t have to carry around any of my bags!! I got in first thing in the morning so I went right into Dublin and got a coffee, some breakfast, and a pint. Perfect fuel to start the day!
I ended up hiring an uber to drive me around the country a bit to explore. I was able to stand at the rocks looking out over the ocean, we had to stop and wait for a small herd of sheep to pass infront of the road, and I went for a walk on a very green pasture area.
Unfortunately, I have very little photo proof of all this, as it was prior to having an iPhone and my camera was in my suitcase, but I promise I went there! I picked up as much Whisky as I could carry: yellow spot, green spot, writers tears, a bottle of Dingle Gin…. Not a bad haul at all!
