2003 Clos Marojallia Margaux

I stumbled upon a fantastic little wine shop in Annapolis, Maryland. I highly recommend it if you’ve never been. The owners wife, Jenifer, ushered me to the back of the store where the French wine was kept. “It’s set up geographically. Left Bank to the left right Bank to the right.”

She humbly walked me through their ‘small collection’ of wines, which more than impressed me.

She had a 2003 Margaux, which was not a very good year. There was record breaking heat all summer, and the most inconsistent of the wines we’re on the left bank: particularly Margaux. Regardless…I can’t resist a half bottle.

Beautiful medium Garnet color!

Slight bite up front that dissipates into a soft, velvet finish. It lingers a bit with some bolder tannins yet.

More red fruits here. Cherries with spicy tobacco and allspice. I think I almost get a hint of cinnamon!!

Finishes with earthy leather and a little bit of a cigar box.

Overall, wonderful. I enjoyed it with a steak, and finished the [half] bottle after dinner.
