This was an amazingly relaxing trip. Jaime and I flew into Manilla and sat out in the parking lot until about 3am – who knew airports closed? It was so hot and muggy. Constantly hearing the ‘*tst, tst** from the local guys to get our attention. We’re waiting to go through security in manilla for our flight to Boracay, and this guy infront of us pulls a huge-ass knife (machete) from his bag, places it on the belt, and then through security puts it back in his bag. Cool — glad they took my spare set of contacts lol
We walked out to our tiny little plane with propellers and got to see the sunrise on the plane. We had a tuk-tuk take us to the boat to get us to another tuk-tuk who dropped us off at the end of a dingy ally. We looked at eachother like “this is not the beach vacation we ordered” We walked down the ally and get around the final corner and as far as we could see in both directions was perfect white beaches with crystal clear-blue ocean. Holy-shit. We’ve arrived!! There were palm trees and outside restaurants with these tables on the ground with big pillows to sit on. Our bungalow was a place all to ourselves, with a porch and a hammock. We will ignore the ants crawling all over it, the water that barely dripped out of the shower head, and the cat’s fighting eachother in the ally in the middle of the night….
We got massages on the beach every day for $5 and ate like queens at the restaurants. We were already looking at investment properties there! It was only like $20k for a resort.
There’s not much more to write about this trip other than we laid on the beach and drank amazing drinks all day every day!!
