Travel Tips: Using Buenos Aires as a Hub for South America

In all my research and obsessively looking for flights all over South America I found that the best way to fly all around the content is to post yourself at one of the two major hubs: Buenos Aires or Santiago. For the first half of this trip, I chose Buenos Aires!

I booked an airbnb for 6 days for $155. It had laundry services, which are vital for a trip of this length.

I dropped off my suitcase and roamed around the city to get the lay of the land a bit. I really only spent about 2 days total in Buenos Aires, it was all just to drop bags and have a place in between visiting other countries. I highly recommend that, it takes the stress out of long trips and the time in between. The other option is airport storage – I’ll try that Method in Santiago and let you know how it goes.

I had steaks for every meal possible here. Local bars, cafe, nicer restaurants, Michelin Star restaurants. Doesn’t matter where I went, steak was on the menu. And everywhere I went it was fantastic. Steak with a glass of Malbec. My dream meal! It’s impossible not to find and would be ridiculous not to eat when in Argentina.

Alot of people to go the tango shows. I hear they are amazing, but it’s not really my thing so I skipped it this time. I did walk around Palermo and looked for the street art – which was everywhere and made for a fun adventure walking around. That’s about all I did in Buenos Aires – walk around, look at the cool street art, take photos, eat steak, drink wine, run to the airport for the next adventure.

Although this was my first time in Argentina (Country #59) I have a lot more travel in the country to cover. Buenos Aires was more of a hub to other places, we’ll get to those next…
