When I moved to Dayton, Ohio last year I wasn’t sure what to expect. I definitely didn’t expect to find the amazing coffee shop scene! One of the simple pleasures I love is enjoying a mug (yes, a real mug) of coffee reading a book or working on life plans. It was something I always enjoyed about travel, but two years ago decided — why save only for travel? It’s become a weekend tradition to roam around to a new coffee shop – I even started taking Mav!
When I arrived in Dayton, the first thing I did was make a list of coffee shops. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there were MANY!
There are many many more than the ones I highlighted below, but these are the top ones I found myself returning to over and over!! Plus, there are even local roasters!
Pettibone
Location: 215 Woodman Dr, Dayton, OH 45431
Atmosphere: Coffee shop chill, it’s always filled with people reading, working, hanging out. It’s a bit loud but still good vibe. It’s nice and bright with floor to ceiling windows on one side. When it’s warm out there’s a few tables in the back parking lot, and they’ll open huge garage doors so you get the fresh air.
Coffee: They do some specialty drinks. But they roast their own beans that I’ve seen used by other coffee shops in the area as well
Food: Pastries are made fresh. I’m not overly a fan of the food, but it’s not bad.

B-Side Coffee
Location: 6178 Chambersburg Rd, Huber Heights, OH 45424
Atmosphere: This location is half cafe half brewery so you can start and end your day all in the same place. Lots of indoor tables and bright space. Great atmosphere to hand around.
Coffee: This place does iced coffee flights! They also have some amazing flavored coffees that are great flavor without all the sugar and sweeteners!
Food: Order the extra crispy candied bacon – it’s amazing!!

Gather
Location: 37 W 4th St, Dayton, OH 45402
Atmosphere: I absolutely love this place! The inside seating has everything from booth seating, to bar seating as well. There is an ‘outdoor’ seating area that’s actually indoor in a large area.
Coffee: Coffee is run of the mill. Nothing particularly fantastic but very good. They also have local honey they use in some of the flavored coffees that are amazing!
Food: Everything I’ve had here is amazing. The breakfast bowls are amazing and filling!! Great presentation too!

Val’s Dayton
Location: 25 S St. Clair Street, Dayton, OH 45402
Atmosphere: Bustling, cozy little shop that almost always has a line out the door and around the corner!
Coffee: Coffee is above average but not enough to go out of your way for
Food: Now the pastries and the food… THAT is what causes the line around the corner!!

Warehouse 4
Location: There’s multiple locations: Kettering, Vandalia, Beavercreek
Atmosphere: Hustle and bustle, bright with lots of light. Great mix of tables, booths, and a bar along the windows!
Coffee: The coffee is great! They also make a London Fog Latte that is just amazing!
Food: They have a few different snackies that I enjoy, the honey ricotta toast was probably my favorite!
