When work moved me to Ohio for two years, I was determined to see as much of ‘that part of the world’ as possible. I realized I hadn’t been to many National Parks (2 so far) and so I wanted to hit the drivable ones. Roadtrips with Mav!
I actually ended up taking two trips to Indiana during my time. The first was to run a practice tri before my Olympic, the second to roam around Indiana Sand Dunes.
For the Triathalon, it was outside of Muncie, Indiana. I was excited because I was feeling good about current training and progress – until I showed up and saw the stack of $10k+ bikes racked and ready to go. I came in so far in the back of the pack it wasn’t even funny! Everyone was crushing it! Great practice though!
Maverick and I roamed around to see the cool street art and hang out in the little town. Perfect little getaway!

The Indiana Sand Dunes were a bit farther away. I have to say they were a bit disappointing. Definitely dog friendly with a cool beach on Lake Michigan where you can see Chicago across the water. Maybe it was time of day we went, but I didn’t find it to be the most exciting of state parks I’ve been to. The only pictures I still have in my phone from it are the coffee shop I stopped at along the way, and some weird park we stopped at!
