I planned my time in Colorado to correspond with when my best friend was in Tahoe with her family. I had skied in Tahoe once, years prior. This was an intense and wonderful experience here in California!
She took me to NorthStar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood during my time there, so it was awesome getting to ski new mountains and try out new terrain. The biggest challenge for me this year was the 30+ inches of fresh powder I was skiing through. I have never in my time skiing skied that much powder before and my poor legs and tiny skis struggled through three days of this heavy powder.
Luckily, I was surrounded by some amazingly advanced skiers giving me some tips and tricks to help me along the way. But also…luckily… (I think – hah)…they didn’t take it easy on me! I was skiing down all the back country and hardest of runs, traversing across the mountain to hit the places nobody had touched. By the third day (even with renting powder skis) my legs were SMOKED. But man, I see why people love to ski powder. I am so thankful for the experience and patient friends and I can’t wait to ski more pow next season!
