Dubai’s Golden Coffee

I had my first taste of Gold Coffee two years ago, when I visited the UAE for the first time at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. I had the famous $24, 24karot gold leaf cappuccino.

Was it the best coffee I ever had? Of course not. Was it cool – heck yeah. Did I realize I’m better than everyone else who DOESN’T drink gold-leaf cappuccinos — ABSOLUTELY! 😉

Now, on my second trip back, I’m on the hunt. One of my simple pleasures in life is hanging out in coffee shops. I enjoy working (or reading, or planning world domination…) while taking in the view and sipping a cup of coffee. So on my trip back to the UAE, I wanted to see what the best in Dubai had to offer. It didn’t take long to get two awesome places on my list.

I started bright and early at the Patisserie at Address Sky View. You don’t have to stay at the hotel to hang out in the cafe and enjoy a signature gold-leaf cappuccino. The cafe was gorgeous – it looked more like a palace. It has one of the best views of Burj Khalifa that I’ve seen, and you can enjoy it by the pool outside or inside in the AC. They had a list of coffee’s and teas and they were all fine. After all – we’re here for the ambiance, not the coffee – HA!

My next coffee-appointment was at 1030 at the Burj al Arab in their Sahn Eddar restaurant. Again – greeted by a golden cappuccino. The view wasn’t as great, but gave a beach resort feel looking out at the turquoise waters. I had the avocado toast here which was – ah-mazing!

Dubai knows how to do it right… ambiance, view, service, luxury, opulence — they do it all! Do yourself a favor next time you travel – google a coffeeshop with a view and go hang out. Today, I just read and right now – writing this blog post! Way better then hiding out drinking the free, and usually terrible, hotel coffee without a view. It’s worth a little extra travel to watch the city bustle around you while you slow down with a cup of joe!
